In general
The last official deed of the municipal council of the former municipality of Heer was the building of the Joppenhof school. The first written proof of education in Heer dates back to 1620. In a church bill it reads that money was paid for the replacement of two windowpanes in a farm where a school was held. This building was situated close to a well and was called Joppenhof (John’s farm). When the school was established in 1972 a competition, to find the name, was held. The name Joppenhof was chosen from among 130 entries.
Today we’re a school of which there is only one in the Netherlands. We are part of the UWCMaastricht ent. In our school the children descend from approximately 30 countries and they are being taught in English. At this moment there are 14 groups.
The special character of our school enables us to learn from each other by working together. We differ in some areas, but we must learn to accept and respect each other. Our school provides unique possibilities in the area of social development
