Dear Parents

May I introduce myself? My name is Mrs. Dorine Lemmens and presently I’m acting as a counsellor for UWCM Primary.
Furthermore, I’m working as a school counsellor for UWCM Secondary.

As a counsellor my area of focus is to support children (and if necessary or desired, also their parents) with social-emotional questions or problems.
Some examples of problems are:
* negative self-image
* problems that have to do with cultural differences
* adaptation problems
* domestic problems
* bullying
* perceived loneliness
* fear of failure
* loss of a loved one
   ….…and many more.

I also counsel class teachers to guide them in helping individual pupils with social and emotional development. I support all staff about the inclusion of children with special needs at a whole school level (think of behavior issues, emotional issues and e.g. autism)

When parents or teachers think that a child can be helped by having meetings with the counsellor, it is possible to arrange appointments.
It is very important that the pupil has the permission of his/her parents to speak to the counsellor.
